Conestoga Students Share Local Purchasing Association Honour

Two third-year students in the Business Administration - Materials Management program at Conestoga College in Kitchener are co-winners of a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC), Central Ontario District.

Perian Snider of Kitchener and Daniel Wieland of Cambridge each received a cheque for $500 from Central
Ontario District President Marc Linder and Cathy Gorringe of the District’s membership executive.

The scholarship goes to a Conestoga student who is a PMAC member and who achieves the highest academic standing in the Principles of Buying course during the second year of the Materials Management program. Snider and Wieland finished tied atop their class in the course.

The PMAC is a professional association with which Materials Management students will have a lifelong
involvement, as their careers progress. The Central Ontario District serves midwestern Ontario and has more than 300 members. The association views Conestoga’s Materials Management program as dedicated to high educational standards in preparing future professionals. Conestoga has more PMAC student members than any other postsecondary institution in Canada and is the only Canadian college to earn PMAC recognition for the Principles of Buying course. In addition, program graduates gain course equivalency credits from PMAC in a number of the association’s professional education areas.

The Business Administration - Materials Management program emphasizes knowledge and skills in activities
critical to business effectiveness and efficiency: purchasing, production and inventory control, and materials transportation, distribution and logistics.
