College Knowledge: Ontario College Information Fair on November 13-14

More than 2,500 Grade 11 and 12 students from midwestern Ontario, plus parents and members of the community can visit and learn about 24 Ontario colleges, right at the Doon campus of Conestoga College, onNovember 13-14. It’s called VIP/CIP -- the Visitor Information Program/College Information Program -- and it’s Conestoga’s largest annual information event.

The evening of Tuesday, November 13 features an open community event from 6-8 p.m. at the Conestoga College Recreation Centre. Representatives of the participating colleges will be on hand, staffing displays, providing information about their colleges, and answering questions about admissions processes and programs of study.

On Wednesday, November 14, activities begin at 8:45 a.m. and continue to 2:30 p.m., as Grade 11 and 12 students from secondary schools in Waterloo Region, and Perth, Huron and Wellington counties are involved in a three-part program.

First, the students and their faculty supervisors visit and tour the information displays at the Recreation Centre. Next, each student will take part in two information sessions dealing with specific programs of study offered by Conestoga College. Finally, following lunch, each student will attend two information sessions given by representatives of participating colleges.

Besides Conestoga, other colleges in the VIP/CIP program include Cambrian, Canadore, Centennial, Fanshawe, Durham, George Brown, Georgian, Humber, Kemptville, Lambton, Le college d’Alfred, Loyalist, Michener, Mohawk, Niagara, Ontario Agricultural College, Ridgetown, St. Clair, St. Lawrence, Sault, Seneca, Sheridan and Sir Sandford Fleming.
