Conestoga Wins Guelph Quality Award

The Guelph Awards of Excellence are given each year to recognize outstanding achievements by businesses and organizations that operate in the city. The awards are sponsored by the City of Guelph, the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, Visitor and Convention Services, Downtown Guelph, the Guelph Business and Enterprise Centre and KPMG.

At the awards gala, held at the University of Guelph on June 13, Conestoga College received one of the prestigious Guelph Quality Awards -- the trophy of excellence in the public sector category.

The College was recognized for its longstanding commitment to implementing quality processes into its operations. The College began instituting formal internal quality measures several years ago and has since moved on to set up an employee recognition awards program for outstanding staff efforts, to achieve full registration under the ISO 9001 system of internationally recognized quality standards, to establish an internal quality council and quality audit procedures, and to perform with excellence under the provincially monitored and mandated Key Performance Indicator (KPI) accountability survey system established for Ontario community colleges.

The official citation recognizing Conestoga reads as follows: "Conestoga College is strategically located to deliver high quality post secondary education and training in response to industry needs for Waterloo Region, Wellington, Perth and Huron counties and beyond. For the third year in a row Conestoga has ranked first overall in a province-wide satisfaction survey of Ontario Colleges.”

President John W. Tibbits comments, "We at Conestoga are extremely proud of this award. It is an excellent endorsement of our commitment and efforts to establish quality in all that we do. I believe that our past and current success, and our determination to make even greater progress in the future, will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goal of becoming a world-class polytechnic institute.”
