We require a qualified individual to perform payroll duties in the Finance department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurate and timely processing of payroll
  • Auditing and verifying source documents and data received from other departments
  • Inputting/importing information to Ceridian HPL
  • Uploading pay stub files to the employee portal
  • Balancing output generated from the Ceridian System; preparing payroll summary of Ceridian registers to support the update of data to the general ledger
  • Creating supporting documents required for payroll processing, such as pension deductions during maternity/paternity leaves, deferred salary calculations, etc.
  • Reconciling College records for benefits with benefits carrier records
  • Maintaining spreadsheet of employee pledges and issuing monthly reports
  • Issuing monthly reports to OPSEU Head Office and Local Executives regarding union dues
  • Preparing remittances and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Responding to employee inquiries related to payroll and deductions
  • Preparing Record of Employment forms

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two year diploma to include payroll and bookkeeping/accounting courses as well as knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
  • Three years related experience working in a payroll environment where confidentiality is a requirement
  • Ability to work with extreme accuracy and detailed information
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems and the ability to apply skills and resolve problems within established deadlines
  • Communication and organizational skills as well as proven ability to multi task
  • Mathematical/analytical skills including the ability to balance a payroll and analyze figures
  • Training and/or experience with Ceridian HPL Payroll System is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability with advanced Excel
