Truth and Reconciliation Week

September 25-29, 2023 | Various times | Various campuses

In recognition of Truth and Reconciliation Week, the Office of Indigenous Initiatives will host an orange shirt fundraiser that will benefit the Kawennio/Gaweni:yo Gayogohono (Cayuga) and Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) immersion school in Six Nations.

T-shirts designed by Jay Soule aka CHIPPEWAR from the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation (Deshkaan Ziibing Anishinaabeg) will be available for 25 dollars in bookstores at the Kitchener - Doon, Cambridge - Reuter Drive and Kitchener - Downtown campuses beginning Monday, September 25.

Kawennio/Gaweni:yo helps preserve the traditions and cultures of the Rotinonhsion:ni/Hodinohso:ni, while preparing students for life after high school.

Other resources:

  • The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) is hosting an entire week of virtual and in-person events from September 25-30, 2023. This year's theme is "Reconciliation Starts with Education". To register for their Daily Lunch and Learns, visit the NCTR website.
  • RRC Polytech in Manitoba has compiled a list of "Cinematic Journeys through Truth and Reconciliation Week" containing films that address topics central to the event.
